Harem Pants

So, a friend of mine told me that instead of posting a lot of pictures on my blog, I should be writing more. So here I am.

Love them or hate them, there is no denying that Harem pants have been a trend since 2009. They have been popular in the Northern Hemisphere and we have already seen them popping up in the high street stores here through the autumn and winter.

If you aren't familiar with Harem pants, they are baggy, loose on the crotch, with big expandable pockets that have a finish around your ankle knee or mid-calf. I began to notice them last summer, but I figured they were a MICRO trend that wouldn't catch on and they would fade away into the land of lost trends.

Well that didn't happen, because they are still here, not only have we seen them on the runway at Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, but now we are seeing them on the STYLE elite


I bet many of you have not bothered to even considering trying them on, right?  Look I know this is a TREND, and I've always said that you should not buy into them and only take what you want from what's out there - which I still stand by. But I think this one might just stick around for a while.

I have seen both gorgeous and scary versions of this trend and until I actually tried a pair on myself, I would never have thought I would be sitting here writing a post on Harem pants.  Oh, did I mention the sheer COMFORT of these beauties?  It is nothing short of divine!

It's a question of personal style and above all - getting the right cut for your body. I have a few tips for those of you who are willing to throw CAUTION to the wind and give the Harem pant a go.
I do think that these pants look their best in basic black, but as we are talking spring here, they are going to be available in all manner of seasonal colours.

It's best to choose a slightly cropped pair as they will be more flattering and team with a tight fitting top or crop-top if you're feeling BRAVE. This exaggerates the volume and balances the shape slightly.

I have read that some FASHIONISTAS out there are waging quite a battle against harem pants, claiming that they have no style about them at all because of the way the crotch brushes the models knees and at worse, they can make you look like you've an accident in your pants.  I do agree that there are indeed some styles out there that can make this claim perfectly true.  And so my next tid-bit of advice is to seek out the right style of harem pants.

Do wear a wide belt to cinch in your waste and show off your curves.
Do go for a fitted cuff and a killer stiletto heel (if you dare).
Do pair them with a form-fitting top to balance the figure.
Do wear a cropped jacket over a fitted Tee. 
Do let the pants speak for themselves.  Steer clear of loud prints and use your accessories to give your outfit the colour it needs.

Perhaps you do have to be brave to embrace this trend, but consider the fact that as SPRING is coming, you will be looking for trans seasonal clothing to get you through those days when the weather is COOLER and you don't want leave your legs bare.  These pants may be just what your looking for.

Breakfast Tart

I've been so lazy lately. I don't want to cook at all. For my friend's birthday, I made Tiramisu for the first time this year. I heard an interesting theory when we were sitting around the food. The theory is that if you want to date someone, this someone should be older half of your age + 7. I am Actuarial Science major. The first thing I did was go through the formula in my head to see if it’s valid. I missed whether this equation is for guy or girl. I guess it's for guys. Otherwise, I could date someone under 21...lol.

Another funny thing is that I forgot bring my wallet to my friends party. I didn’t notice it until I was going to a bar after the party. It was pretty risky to drive without ID. There are so many what ifs....

It was a great party. I had never seen my friend that drunk before. But I heard that he is doing very well last night because he normally would be passed out before 9. When I left, around 11, he was still sober. He will be a father around October, his wife, my best friend, is pregnant. I am so happy for them. I actually think "Hunter" is not a bad name lol. They could name their kid "the XXXX", just like Joy in friends.....the Hunter....haha ... (My dearest pregnant friend, if you see this, please don’t kill me.)

Wake up with a little headache. The weather is great, sunny but not hot. I am actually in the mood for hiking. But I guess I will do some cleaning instead. I left a mess after preparing Tiramisu. I want to go to Alon's for some breakfast, but I’m not in the mood to drive. I am going to make something for myself then.

A little tart with eggs, capocolla cheese, avocado, creme fraiche, and chives.




Roll out puff pastry dough after flouring the board, you can also use filo dough if you want.

After rolling out the dough, cut 5×5 inch squares, you should get four out of one puff pastry sheet. I think it’s better to roll the dough out pretty thin.


To prep the tart, make sure to score the edges, about 1/3-3/4 inches into the edges, don’t cut all the way through.

And then inside of those lines, use a fork to poke holes, this is so that only the edges rise and the center (where the filling is) doesn’t rise too much.


Layer the sheets with creme fraiche and avocado and capocolla. Of course you can use bacon or prosciutto as a substitution to the capocolla.

Also make sure to brush the edges with a beaten egg. Then bake these at 425 for 10-12 minutes..To get the bottom of the tarts very crisp, you can heat the bottom on a stove, that way the top doesn’t continue to cook.

After those 10-12 minutes, take them out and break quail eggs onto it. Put them back into the oven just until the whites set.


Chop some chives onto the tarts after they are pulled out of the oven, you can also sprinkle cheese..I used Provolone.

Life is different between countries and cities. I grew up at a city where people live in high-rise condos. After moving to where I am now, people live in single family houses. You really couldn’t say which one is better than the other. It's just different life styles. Me, I personally like condos. Maybe because I am too lazy to mow the lawn, maybe I am not rich enough to buy a single house in the city, or maybe I don’t mind people who live on top of me jumping around in their rooms. Anyways, this is what I like my condo to be...
